CROATS IN CANADA
The Government of Canada is contributing
$ 500,000 to Croatian earthquake relief
In response to the devastating earthquakes that hit Croatia a few days ago, fundraising efforts have been undertaken by members of the Croatian community (and friends thereof) around the world (including a number of campaigns within our own community in Canada).
We are proud to share the announcement by the Government of Canada of its $500,000 contribution to assist with relief efforts in Croatia.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and terrible destruction brought by the powerful earthquake. Canada offers its sincerest condolences to the people of Croatia and stands ready to support them during this difficult time”, said François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Thank you to the Government of Canada for its contribution and in particular to MP Bob Bratina
for his continuous support of and efforts on behalf of the Croatian community in Canada and abroad.
Thank you as well to Ambassador Alan Bowman, Ambassador Vice Skračić, Consul General Ante Jović and Honorary Consul Majot Hallen for their continued diplomatic efforts on the ground to strengthen relations between Canada and Croatia. We are truly proud of the current strong partnership between Canada and Croatia and appreciative of all those over the years who have contributed to the relationship we have today. This is truly a historic announcement.
The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce is participating in a global effort with other Croatian diaspora organizations to raise funds for the “Croatian Earthquake Relief Fund” through GoFundMe Charity - please consider supporting:
